ADF court-martial

Dear oh dear. An Australian officer is before a court-martial in Canberra this week accused of covering up mistreatment of an Afghan detainee. That’s bad. Herald of War doesn’t know the facts of the case and hopes the court will find them.

But what is odd is something heard on a radio news program this afternoon about the investigation into the 2010 alleged incident.

It seems the original complaint was raised by an Australian MP corporal who saw records falsified by a superior. The investigation found no case to answer (no surprise there) but also apparently recommended the corporal for psychological evaluation.

WTF? Hardly something Herald of War remembers recommending in any investigation over the years.

Discrediting the whistleblower? We wonders, aye, we wonders. (With apologies to Sam Gamgee.)
